MINISTRY RESOURCES

SportLife: What Does it Really Take to be Great?

The SportLife series is designed to be a practical resource for the elite athletes, coaches and sport ministers. We want to help equip you with a Christian worldview as you deal with the challenges and joys of sport culture. This discipleship series offers three types of material to initiate discussion and spur on personal development: Critical Issues, Bible Studies and Theological Perspectives.

Theological Perspectives

Training for Mentors & Leaders

SportLife is divided into eight broad categories such as "Play, Sport and Competition," “Emotions” and “Trials and Transitions.” Each category has a Theological Perspective, written by a biblical scholar, to help the sport minister/mentor/leader develop biblical insight into common problems in the world of sport.

Critical Issues

Connecting with Athletes Through Felt Needs

Within the eight broad categories, 25 Critical Issues are explored. These pieces are designed to raise an athlete’s awareness of Critical Issues in sport through a self-discovery process, leaving them with a desire to learn more. The Critical Issue is then identified, practical tips are given, and the reader is prompted to self-evaluation.

Bible Studies

Biblical Wisdom Applied to Issues in Sport

Each of the 25 Critical Issues have a corresponding Bible Study that brings a biblical perspective to issues in sport. They are relatively simple, based on one or two Bible passages, and contain some thoughtful questions, a sport/life application, and prayer. Bible studies can be used by individuals, one on one discipleship, small group study, webinars, or team presentations.

The Hurdles

The Hurdles Study Series is the most fundamental piece for growth as a Christian in the world of sports. This follow-up series contains individual short studies for one-on-one or small group to help build a solid foundation that will last a lifetime. The format of the studies are personal, practical and relevant to life in sports. Order one pack containing all 16 studies or pick and choose individual studies according to your needs. Don’t miss out on developing the fundamentals!
